Webinar Title: Advancing Racial Justice Through Equitable Public Investment – Insights from Washington State’s ARPA Fund Use

Description:

Join us for a webinar hosted by Inatai Foundation and the Institute on Race, Power and Political Economy at The New School, where we’ll share findings from a budget equity report using a groundbreaking racial equity assessment of ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) investments across Washington state.

The session will highlight key recommendations for advancing equity in public budgeting, the importance of framing equity initiatives in today’s political climate, and strategies for effective movement building.

The webinar will highlight:

  • Key insights from the ARPA Equity Assessment, including leverage points and policy recommendations for equitable public funding.
  • Community leaders’ perspectives on challenges and successes in accessing ARPA funds.
  • Tools and frameworks to support budget equity and government accountability.

The webinar will also discuss how this work falls within the broader racial justice and budget equity movements, and a discussion on how these findings can inform future advocacy and organizing efforts. Kiana McKenna, Deputy Director of Strategy and Policy of Pacific Islander Community Association of Washington and research advisory member for this project, will join us in conversation.

Who Should Attend: Public sector leaders, nonprofit professionals, funders, community organizers, and anyone interested in advancing equity through budget policy and practice. The webinar will be available in English and Spanish.
