Educator Demand & Supply: What do we know regarding data sources, who gathers it and what additional information are needed to give an accurate understanding of demand and supply? How can we address it? |
CAPAA – Education Committee | 4/2/2017 | Education Committee met and discussed the revised EOGOAC recommendations, new legislation regarding education, and set goals and action plans for the upcoming year. |
Talanoa Series at Portland State University | 4/20/2017 | I was invited to speak to the PI community in Portland and the Portland State University’s community about being a professional in higher education as well as my duties in the community as a Commissioner on CAPAA. Community members talked about the barriers and challenges and how to bridge the gaps so they are afforded equitable services in education and immigration issues. |
Pacific Islander Coalition | 4/25/2017 | I attended the Pacific Islander Coalition meeting that focused on health disparities for Pacific Islanders, mainly COFA communities. At this meeting, CAPAA was asked to support the efforts of CANN and work with Multnomah County of Oregon to bridge the gaps for health issues. |
Multicultural Resource Fair | 4/29/2017 | This event was organized by the Latino Resource Group of Clark County. It provides health, immigration, and education resources to the community. CAPAA was asked to support the event by participating to disseminate information about CAPAA and what CAPAA can do to provide or offer resources for AAPIs. |
Pacific Islander Students Alliance Leadership Training | 5/20/2017 | The Pacific Islander Students Alliance of SW WA and Oregon invited me to present on civil rights, civic involvement, and advocacy in the community for Pacific Islanders. At this training, CAPAA information was distributed to all present. |
Students of Color Luncheon at Clark College | 5/25/2017 | I was invited to give background on my journey at Clark College and my involvement with CAPAA. At this event, I updated the community about the efforts and focus of CAPAA and how to get involved and informed. |
Healthy Penguin Walkabout | 6/3/2017 | I was invited to have a table about CAPAA at Clark College’s Healthy Penguin Walkabout. The community event focused on the effects of sugar and how to identify healthy substitutes. |
