Lori Wada and Frieda Takamura are being honored by the Northwest Asian Weekly as Top Contributors to the Asian Pacific American community at an event on Friday, Dec. 5 in Seattle.
Commissioner Wada was appointed by Gov. Inslee to CAPAA this year, but has served as a public employee for over 25 years and is currently with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner. She is active in the Korean American community and is passionate about higher education, affordable housing, and health equity.
Takamura was a CAPAA Commissioner from 2008 to 2014 and is a lifelong educator. She currently serves as the co-chair of the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee, which is working to close the opportunity gaps. The Weekly recently published an article about Takamura’s contributions to the APA communities.
The Top Contributors event will begin at 5:45pm at the House of Hong restaurant.
