The Mien International Enrichment Network, Highline College, local businesses and community organizations have partnered to create the Southeast Asian Pacific Islander Health Education Summit Committee. The committee aims to address the issues of barriers leading to health disparities, such as access and knowledge of existing resources, awareness and knowledge of health issues, and medical care without cultural context through its first Health Education Summit.

Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander Communities of King County and surrounding areas, health professionals interested in learning about the barriers the communities face, and Community Health services and programs are all invited to attend.

In-language health education workshops, preventative health screenings, health resource fair, cultural programming, and cultural food demonstrations will be included in the Summit program. Additionally, Children’s activities and health education will also be provided.

The Health Education Summit will be on August 25th, 2018 from 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM at Highline College (2400 S 250th St, Des Moines, WA 98198).
