CAPAA statement in support of Hindu community

The Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs released the following joint statement from Commissioner Debadutta Dash and Director Michael Itti today in support of Washington's Hindu community. “We condemn the recent vandalism of Hindu temples in Bothell and Kent. Our communities and state embrace diversity and inclusion. These acts are contrary to our values and must not be tolerated. Governor appoints Mohan Gurung and Zer Vue to the Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs

Gov. Jay Inslee has announced the following appointments to the Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs. Mohan Gurung was born in Nepal and migrated to the United States in 1993. Prior to his move, he worked at Bir Hospital (the oldest hospital in Nepal) in their Emergency/Trauma, Orthopedic and Dental department for over 13 years. He has volunteered in numerous medical camps and health clinics throughout Nepal including with the Red Cross. He founded the Nepal Seattle Society with the goal to unite all Nepali in the state of Washington to preserve and promote Nepali culture and share it with other communities. Lori Wada appointed to the Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs

Governor Jay Inslee recently announced Lori Wada as commissioner to the Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA). Wada has more than two decades of public service experience in support of affordable housing and health care equity initiatives. She currently serves as an Operations Supervisor for the Office of Insurance Commissioner. Wada provides consultation and training on the most up to date health insurance benefits, options, enrollments, and eligibility requirements. Previously, she worked at the Department of Commerce and the State Lottery Commission. Wada immigrated to Washington State from Seoul, South Korea when she was 18 years old. CAPAA statement of typhoon relief

The Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA) offers its deepest sympathies and thoughts to the families and individuals who have been impacted by Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). The Filipino community is the second largest Asian Pacific Islander group in Washington. New members appointed to the Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs

Gov. Jay Inslee recently announced the following appointments to the Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA). Gerardine “Didi” Cabusao is Filipino-American and resides in Selah, Washington. She is a registered dietitian at Yakima Valley School, Department of Social and Health Services. She is also a consulting dietitian for the Senior Nutrition Program in Yakima County. Cabusao was also actively involved with the Yakima Valley Dietetic Association and served as the association’s president in 2003. Governor Jay Inslee announced the appointment of Michael Itti as the executive director of the Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs.
