CAPAA Public Board Meeting on January 21
CAPAA will be holding a public board meeting on January 21, 2017 at the General Administration Building in Olympia.
Attendees will have an opportunity to hear about issues impacting Asian Pacific American communities. There will also be time for members of the community to provide public comment and voice their concerns to the Commission.
2017 Legislative Ethnic Reception
Save the date for the 2017 Legislative Ethnic Reception on Tuesday, February 7 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Columbia Room in Olympia.
Join CAPAA for an opportunity to meet and network with elected officials. Governor Inslee will be giving the welcoming remarks at the Reception.
Tacoma Minority Business Development Agency
The Tacoma MBDA Business Center is offering free technical assistance through March 31, 2017 to established minority business enterprises and start-ups. They offer assistance such as accounting and legal services that help diverse businesses gain access to contracts and opportunities.
November Board Meeting
The Commission convened a public board meeting at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center in Seattle on November 19. Commissioners and attendees learned about the Ethnic Business Coalition, heard about the impacts on youth who attended the UPRISE and UNITE Summits, and the efforts of the Cambodian American Community Council of Washington and the Hmong Association of Washington to serve their communities.

Commissioner Highlights
- Commissioner Dickinson attended the Spokane County Bar Diversity Committee and discussed methods to recruit and attend diverse law students.
- Commissioner Guerrero attended the COFA community meeting in Spokane to learn about their concerns. She also represents the Commission on the Educator Workforce Development Workgroup
