Anna Lising is a Filipina immigrant and a mom of 3 (two humans and a dog). Raised by a single mother, Anna grew up in Kirkland with her siblings, attending public schools and ultimately graduating from the University of Washington. Anna spent 15 years working on climate policy in Washington, DC and California, obtaining her graduate degree in public policy at Georgetown University in the evenings while working full time at the US Department of Energy. Anna returned home to Washington state 4 years ago to serve as Governor Inslee’s Senior Climate Advisor where she leads the state’s strategies to fully decarbonize the buildings, transportation, and power sectors. Anna has pioneered innovative programs and investments that center the needs of frontline communities, understanding that low-income communities and communities of color are disproportionately impacted by climate change and air pollution. She has held leadership roles in federal and local governments, as well as cleantech startups. As Commissioner, Anna is eager to utilize her expertise in policymaking and the legislative process to advance the needs and priorities of AAPI communities across the state.
