CAPAA Welcomes 2017 Legislative Intern

The Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs is pleased to announce the selection of the 2017 Legislative Intern, Anuilagi Nguyen.

Anuilagi Nguyen is CAPAA’s Legislative Intern for the 2017 Session. She is the daughter of Samoan immigrants and attends The Evergreen State College as a first generation college student. She also serves as the Club Coordinator for the Women of Color Coalition at Evergreen. Her areas of focus include International Studies, Feminist Studies, and Social Justice. Before attending Evergreen, she served in the United States Air Force and the United States Coast Guard. Her military service includes participation in Operation Enduring Freedom, Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, and the 2010 Haiti Earthquake Global Relief efforts. She currently volunteers with a local non-profit organization, Family Support Center, which is the only family homeless shelter in the Thurston County area. She is passionate about social justice and finding ways to make higher education more accessible for communities of color. Anuilagi is excited to learn more about the legislative process and how it impacts Asian Pacific American communities.
