CAPAA’s Sapphire Celebration (4/13)

The Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA) cordially invites the public to attend its Sapphire Anniversary Celebration, observing 45 years of service to the APA community statewide.

Join us for a family-friendly, feel-good event for all our community members to come together and celebrate our beautiful diversity in solidarity! Attendees are encouraged to wear BLUE in honor of Sapphire Anniversary – cultural attire is encouraged!

CAPAA Monthly October 2018

The Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs will be convening a public board meeting on December 8, 2018 at the Asia Pacific Cultural Center (APCC) in Tacoma, Washington. The Commission will be introducing our new Executive Director, Toshiko Hasegawa, providing updates on our 2018-2019 Strategic Plan and the 2019 Legislative Session, and hearing from the community.

Community members are invited to attend the public meeting. We will also have time for public comment.

CAPAA: Community Meeting with Pardon and Clemency Board

Are you or a loved one impacted by deportation? If yes, connect with an immigration lawyer at this event and learn how Washington State is expediting pardons to help keep families together.

A paralegal from the Attorney General’s office, of the Pardon and Clemency Board, will present actions we can take to protect one another and a few Cambodian American cases will be shared that are headed to a pardon hearing.

August Newsletter: COVID-19 Updates, Job Opportunities, and Upcoming Events

As Washington state COVID-19 hospitalizations reach an all-time high, Governor Inslee has announced several restrictions and requirements to address the public health crisis.

Effective Monday, August 23, all individuals are required to wear masks in public indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status.

Additionally, Governor Inslee announced vaccine mandates for state employees, private health care workers, long term care workers, and educators. This includes (but is not limited to):

3 Days of Aloha (7/26-7/28)

The Ke Kukui Foundation is hosting their annual Hawaiian Festival “3 Days of Aloha in the Pacific Northwest” on July 26, 27, and 28. There will be hula presentations, island food, arts & craft vendors, Hawaiian music, children’s activities, cultural demonstrations, and more!

2018 Day of Remembrance (2/19)

This year, the Washington State House and Senate will be observing the Day of Remembrance on Monday, February 19, at 10:00 AM. Please arrive at the South House Gallery by 9:45 AM at the latest. Following the floor resolution, lunch will be served to guests in the House Rules Room in the Legislative building. Please note that Senators will be invited to sit in with the House of Representatives during the observance of the Day of Remembrance Resolution.
