CAPAA’s Local Hero Award recognizes leaders across Washington state that have contributed to the advancement of AA-NH/PI communities in their local jurisdiction. Nominations are made by current CAPAA Commissioners, then approved by the Executive Committee, for presentation at the following Board meeting. We had two awardees presented at our Spokane Board meeting– you can read their bio below. Congratulations to Jimmy Jacob and Linny Dee!

The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) has resources available for Washington families concerned about separation due to immigration-related detention or deportation. CAPAA is continuing its partnership with DCYF and will publish translations on our website as they become available.

APCC's 15th Annual Samoa Cultural Days will be July 24-26, 2025 based in the greater Tacoma, WA area. In addition, there are 10 Scholarships available for Samoan youth who are confirmed to attend college (2 year/ 4 year/ trade) -- details in the attachment below!
