Commission to Meet on June 18 in Wapato

On Saturday, June 18, CAPAA will be convening a public board meeting at Filipino Hall in Wapato. You will have the opportunity to engage with Commissioners and hear about education policies and other issues impacting Asian Pacific American communities.

The public meeting will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., but attendees may arrive or depart at any time. Members of the public will have an opportunity to participate in the Community Forum at 11:50 a.m.

Governor’s Arts & Heritage Awards

The Washington State Arts Commission invites you to nominate outstanding artists, arts organizations, and cultural leaders for the 2016 Governor’s Arts and Heritage Awards. The awards will recognize significant contributions made to arts and cultural development in the state.

Your Voice Matters

Executive Director Michael Itti wrote a guest article for the ACRS Spring Newsletter where he discusses why your voice matters in government. Below is an excerpt:

When you volunteer at the ACRS Food Bank, donate to a favorite charity, or vote in an election, you are working to make a difference in our communities. Making your voice heard in government is another way to participate. Your input will help innovate programs and services to be more inclusive of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, and improve the well-being of all Washingtonians.

Every Student Succeeds Act

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction will host regional forums across the state to provide an overview of implementation strategies of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and discuss opportunities and challenges that may arise. Community members will have an opportunity to provide feedback at the regional forums.
