Commissioner Finau presents at UPRISE
Pacific Islander youth, families, and community leaders gathered for a powerful UPRISE 2017 at Highline College. The event focused on how learning more about history and culture can help Pacific Islanders navigate race, poverty, health care, justice, and, most importantly, education.
Thank you to Commissioner Lynette Finau for presenting during a session for parents where they developed strategies about how the education system and community can work together to address school attendance.
Filipino American History Month
Governor Inslee has proclaimed October 2017 as Filipino American History Month in the state of Washington and encourages all people in our state to join in this special observance.
The Filipino American National Historical Society established Filipino American History Month in the year 1988.
