The Commission is looking to fill a Project Coordinator position in its two-person office. The position works closely with the Executive Director and Commissioners to serve the needs of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in Washington State.

This person is responsible for project coordination activities as well as the administrative functions of the office. The Project Coordinator also assists in tracking issues and policies that impact the Commission’s stakeholders.

Interested applicants should submit the following:

  • A letter of interest describing specific qualifications.
  • A current resume detailing applicable experience
  • A list of three professional references with current telephone numbers

The Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs is requesting applications for candidates interested in serving on our board.

CAPAA has an advisory board consisting of twelve governor-appointed commissioners representing the state’s diverse Asian Pacific American communities. Commissioners serve a three-year term and attend five commission meetings per year. They build relationships in their community and work to find solutions by hosting community meetings, serving on committees, examining issues, and advising decision-makers.

The Commission requests that applications are received by June 1 to be considered for potential openings on the board that may occur in June.

The Pacific Islander Health Board of Washington is hosting a Know Your Rights Immigration Training on Thursday, May 25.

Immigration attorneys Kripa Upadhyay and Steve Tanijo will lead a training about immigration issues impacting Pacific Islander, immigrant, and refugee communities such as immigration rights, what to do in case of an immigration police raid, and an overview of the criminal justice system and deportation.

The Pacific Islander Health Board will also present resources for emergency preparedness in Pacific Islander communities.
