Chuukese Workplace English Program

Date

Workforce Southwest Washington, in partnership with the Chuukese Community, is excited to share that the Chuukese Workplace English Program is now underway!

Through the EnGen platform, this pilot program provides workplace English instruction designed to address language barriers identified by Chuukese elders and community members. The goal is to help Chuukese adults strengthen their workplace communication skills, build confidence, and expand their access to quality jobs and career pathways.

The program is entirely online and can be accessed from a mobile device. Lessons are short and manageable, with many taking as little as 10 minutes to complete. Each participant will also have a coach to provide encouragement, answer questions, and help them stay engaged throughout the program.

The pilot will run from September 15, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Each scholarship provides nine months of access to the program.

To qualify, applicants must:

• Live in Clark, Cowlitz, or Wahkiakum County
• Be a member of the Chuukese community
• Complete an English language assessment during the application process to determine scholarship eligibility
• Commit to participating throughout the nine month scholarship period
